The Witmer Group’s scope was extensive on the landmark Press Building, an urban re-use project complete for its first residents in January of 2017. The result was a massive effort shared between over 150 contractors and subcontractors, and offers approximately 48 condominiums, a fine-dining restaurant, fitness center, and rooftop deck. Long in the making, the city cites the Press Building as yet another in a string of impressive rehabs drawing bundles of life back into historic downtown Lancaster.
The Witmer Group provided all interior CMU work, openings for balconies, new site walls, stone work and ground work for areaways, setting of wall caps and column caps, infill around openings, interior and exterior paint removal, sandblasting, hole patching and brick replacement, as well as extensive repointing of brick and stone.
The 6-story historic landmark has now been through $18M in revitalization after being vacant since 1992. On a major artery through the city, and amidst the hot bed of downtown amenities, the Press Building is a highly visible example of Lancaster’s ever-expanding renaissance.
