NATIONAL SAFETY STAND-DOWN WEEK!
Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 378 of the 986 construction fatalities recorded in 2021 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.
A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. Any workplace can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on “Fall Hazards” and reinforcing the importance of “Fall Prevention”.
During the national safety stand-down week, all crews and office personnel will review fall protection toolbox talks and huddles involving aerial lift safety, scaffoldings, harness and lanyard inspections, floor openings, and more! We will share this journey on our social media to extend fall protection education and the initiative to raise awareness and lower the risk of falls.
