Poplar Run Retirement Community Myerstown, PA BACK

Project Background

With nearly one acre of EIFS and nearly four miles of caulked joints on the outside of the older portions building, the Poplar Run project resulted in a complete transformation of the facility.

The Poplar Run independent living facility, that features apartments and cottages for its residents, embarked on a renovation of the exterior of the building that transformed all of the older exterior facades around the building to match the new additions that were recently constructed. Our work included:

  • The EIFS finish on the outside of the affected portions of the building was repaired, cleaned and coated with a new weatherproof / protective coating. The coating color of the older portions of the building was matched to the new additions.
  • Our team repaired over 400 Dryvit window sills, ground the old finish off and installed new base-coat, mesh and finish and repaired a couple hundred feet of cracks in the Dryvit.
  • All of the exterior caulked joints around the affected portions of the building were re-caulked – Including windows, doors, louvers and vents, expansion joints and more.
  • Handsome stone veneer accents were added along the bottoms of the walls and at some accent panels around the building.
  • Some of the existing brick piers and accent panels were stained to match the new colors of the new building.

As the work progressed, the owner asked us to perform additional work, including the installation of 41 charming new doors at the resident’s patio entrances and the upcoming installation of four aluminum enclosures for some new all-season rooms for the residents to enjoy.

The Leadership of Poplar Run had a distinct vision for their facility, and communicated that vision so The Witmer Group could make that vision a reality. The result is an amazing transformation – an attractive, warm and inviting appearance that will allow the residents to enjoy their homes even more, for many years to come.
