Yorktowne Hotel York, PA BACK

Project Background

Investigative services were required to assist the owners of the Yorktowne Hotel with the preliminary stages of the renovation of this historic structure. Our team provided the following materials and services to allow for a thorough investigation of the building:

• Erected two 30’ long swing stages on different elevations of the 11 story masonry building.
• Installed all access equipment according to OSHA and manufacturer’s standards.
• Supplied daily safety inspections of all access equipment and general site conditions, informed engineer as to the state of safety each day.
• Conducted safety instruction meetings to keep all parties informed of changing conditions as the work progressed.
• Provided all tools and equipment to perform the investigative work.
• Installed, and maintained in working condition, testing equipment and instruments of the engineer for water testing.
• Assisted engineer in monitoring water tests and reporting to the chief forensic engineer, our findings.
• Selectively removed sections of walls for visual inspection of the actual as-built wall conditions for forensic purposes.
• Provided weather protection as needed to prevent excessive water intrusion at removal areas.
• Assisted in visual inspections of the wall conditions in concert with engineers, reporting our observations to the chief forensic engineer.

The Yorktowne Hotel has been a cornerstone of downtown York since 1925. The 11-story building was designed in Renaissance revival that reflects the vivacious spirit of the 1920s with 20-foot-high ceilings and ornate decor. The $20 million renovation will bring the Yorktowne Hotel under the Hilton brand of hotels and is scheduled to reopen late 2019.
