Project Background
The Salvation Army Lancaster headquarters, built in 1880, was in need of extensive facade repair and restoration including repointing of brick, removal of paint and a complete rebuilding of brick bearing walls and the upper portion of the brick chimney.
Due to major structural damage at the top, the chimney had to be rebuilt.
The south side masonry presented some challenges for the crew. Structurally unsound, bowed and twisted, three, sometimes four layers of brick had to be replaced. This required some areas to be shored up to allow the work to continue and assure the upper floors weren’t affected.
The project was located in downtown Lancaster. We successfully repaired the building while maintaining the safety of our crew and those walking in the area of the job site.
