The middle school is one of the largest masonry projects in Witmer's history!
The new Black Rock Middle School serves about 1,000 students from the Penn Wynne and Gladwyne areas in grades five through eight.
Located at 1860 Montgomery Avenue in Villanova, the school is named for the unique black rock formations in the area that the indigenous Lenape used to make tools and other implements.
The new masonry team had the opportunity to perform services to the 208,000 SF middle school. The project took ground in September 2020 and was on schedule and completed by September 2022.
The scope of work consisted of:
122,200 Standard Gray CMU
65,000 Monarch Brick
58,950 Utility Brick
15,212 Astra-Glaze CMU – 9 different Colors
2,000 Sq Ft Stone Veneer
2400 Cubic Yards Grout
120 pcs Bluestone Coping
4500 Sq Ft 3” Rigid Insulation
Congratulations to foreman Ian and the whole new masonry team who worked on this significant project. The school is now open and running for a successful school year.
