The Witmer Restoration team is working diligently on the Market Square Presbyterian Church
Undertaking a comprehensive restoration project to preserve and enhance the historic structure. The scope of work includes cleaning all masonry materials, such as brick, brownstone, granite, concrete, and precast, across the entire church and adjacent buildings. Efforts to address rust and iron staining are underway, along with the installation of caulking at control joints at various locations, including brick, stone entrance steps, and miscellaneous brownstone areas. The team is carefully routing out and repainting joints at all brownstone and specialty stone, conducting specialty stone repair and replacement, and installing stainless steel dry fixed anchors in brownstone column pieces. The project also involves removing all scaling and delamination of the brownstone veneer, repainting brick veneer as specified, and performing structural crack repairs with stainless steel helical ties. Additional tasks include brick infills and replacements, applying an elastomeric coating on all exposed concrete blocks, caulking around all windows and doors, and replacing defective caulking at control joints. The restoration extends to treating all rusted steel lintels and decorative window surrounds, removing rusted anchors in brownstone caps at structural columns, and installing new stainless-steel anchors. This meticulous restoration effort will preserve the beauty and integrity of Market Square Presbyterian Church for generations to come.
