The Witmer Group worked with an engineering firm to complete an entire building assessment of the Birdsboro Elementary School. The building assessment was critically needed to provide the Daniel Boone School District with vital information pertaining to the present condition of the elementary school along with a budgeted cost for repairs and upgrades. The final proposal/assessment will play a large part in decisions the district will have to make for future expansion and meeting the needs of the school district.
Our investigative services properly explained all needed restoration and repairs to the multi-aged complex. Included in our investigation were invasive inspections at seven areas where the complete exterior veneers would be removed to view all backup conditions including original flashings, damproofings, anchorage of building materials, among others critical observations.
Upon completion of our field work, our team provided and reviewed a conditional report at a public school board meeting. The report included all needed repairs, life safety conditions, cost estimates with each repair, critical line items, potential impact to the schools in protecting the building, grounds, general public, along with a detailed phased schedule that will allow the district to complete the work in a timely method.
Through the work we provided, the architectural and engineering firms are now able to generate project specifications and drawings to generate a bid package prior to selecting a construction team to complete the scope of work.
