100-Year-Old Shop Room Floor Gets a Modern Makeover
After more than a century of service, this shop room floor was due for a serious upgrade. Witmer Coatings was brought in to give the space a new lease on life—with durability, safety, and longevity top of mind.
We began with a thorough site assessment and addressed necessary soil stabilization to ensure a stable base. Years of oil buildup were removed using an enzymatic oil cleaner, and the concrete was scarified to properly prep the surface.
To meet the demands of this industrial environment, we installed a hi-wear black epoxy slurry system with a self-leveling base. Given the frequency of oil leaks and heavy use, aluminum oxide grit was added to the aliphatic urethane topcoat to provide enhanced slip resistance and long-term durability.
The transformation is striking—the floor is now clean, tough, and built to perform. It’s become the envy of the plant, and Witmer Coatings is already slated to return for additional upgrades across the facility.
