Project Background
The Witmer Group was awarded an exclusive masonry contract with The Pennsylvania College of Technology to investigate and complete repairs on several campus buildings. The Witmer Group provided a variety of services to address and restore masonry related conditions including brick veneer, limestone, and precast material that was deteriorating.
Listed are some prestigious projects completed at PA College of Technology by The Witmer Group.
Advanced Technology and Health Science Center– Scope included removing and replacing the top 7’ to 8’ of the entire building. The team installed through-wall flashings at window sills, heads, and continuous relief irons. The team also removed the double-sided brick veneered walls and hanging brick soffits, at both main entrances. The brick veneer was severely deteriorated and needed to be removed. These restorative updates transformed the exterior of the building.
Campus Center– Architectural glass block, red and blue 8” x 8” brick veneer units, and utility-size brick veneer units were removed and replaced with other veneer materials. The Witmer Group supplied the college with artist renderings of many options including multiple formations and layouts of exterior veneer options. The team removed large exterior showcase window units along with restoring the surrounding masonry veneers on the exterior. The interior of this section was also rebuilt with the addition of new steel stud walls, drywall, and other finishes.
Bardo Gymnasium– The Witmer Group completed the restoration of the exterior of the Bardo Gymnasium. The team removed the top 5’ to 6’ of brick veneer on many elevations due to damage and vertical cracks in the brick veneer. Also, the team removed the existing coping stone and installed new stainless-steel pan flashings.
